Some random birth announcements (in chronological order):

Litsemba the African elephant gave birth to a male calf on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 9:14 pm at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. This is the third birth within the herd, which arrived in San Diego from Swaziland, where it was scheduled for culling due to overpopulation. Two other elephants are also pregnant are expected to give birth later this year;

Binti the Gorilla gave birth on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam. This marks the first birth at the zoo in 10 years. Two other gorillas are due to give birth later this summer;

Actress Tori Spelling gave birth to a baby boy on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces, Liam Aaron McDermott is Tori’s first child, and husband Dean McDermott’s second, who has a son from a previous marriage;

Bulgarian Princess Kalina gave birth to a baby boy on March 14, 2007 in the Bulgarian capitol of Sophia. Princess Kalina is the daughter of former exiled King Simeon Caxe Coburg. Her newborn son is the 11th grandchild of former Bulgarian boy king Simeon Saxe Coburg. His birth is the first royal birth in Bulgaria since the former monarch’s birth in 1937;

Mikki the African elephant is due to give birth any day at the Louisville Zoo. She is currently under a 24 watch in anticipation of the big event. Mikki’s calf will be the zoo’s first infant elephant in its nearly 40 year history; and finally,

Many Chinese women are due to give birth this coming year. The Year of the Golden Pig is an especially auspicious year in which to give birth, as it is believed that people born during this period are polite, honest, hardworking, loyal and lucky. Chinese employers are totally unprepared for this baby boom and corresponding loss of its female employees, who are entitled to up to nearly half a year (cumulative) of maternity leave.
